Elephants & Butterflies | Cellular Fuel Cells

In the series "Elephants and Butterflies - Science in a nutshell", the Einstein Foundation Berlin regularly presents the scientists it supports. They report on their research subjects in a striking and generally understandable way.

Mitochondria are the cell’s powerhouses, but they can also drive cells to commit suicide. Neurologist Philipp Mergenthaler is looking for biochemical mechanisms that prevent cell death in stroke patients and people with rare mitochondrial diseases.
He is also active with a project at Einsteincenter 3R.
