EC3R partner at the Long Night of Science

Scientists involved in the Einstein Center 3R (EC3R) and their research groups will once again be taking part in the Long Night of Science on June 28, 2025 in Berlin.

At the TU Berlin, the group led by Prof. Jens Kurreck presents  "The Future of Cell Culture – Bio-printed Organ Models" at an information stand and during a hands-on activity.
Excerpt from the program:"Dive into the exciting world of cell culture! Find out how researchers are using cells to understand disease and develop new therapies. We want to establish an animal-free cell culture and help reduce animal testing with 3D-printed organ models. View cells under a microscope and learn how to use a pipette – perfect for kids 6+ & curious minds!"

At the Max Delbrück Centrum in Buch, Prof. Gerhardt's working group will focus on the topic “When new blood vessels sprout”. Demonstrations and guided tours in English.
Excerpt from the program: "During the laboratory tour, Holger Gerhardt's team will show visitors how new blood vessels sprout, how blood flow influences the vessels, and where the very first blood vessels come from using cell samples, 3D models, and zebrafish. Ages 12 and older."

Also at the Max Delbrück Centrum in Buch, Dr. Mina Gouti's working group will be presenting the topic “Neuromuscular mini-organs: experience research first hand” in English.
Excerpt from the program: "What are mini-organs (organoids) and why are ours so special? During the interactive lab tour, visitors will learn how we produce neuromuscular mini-organs and what significance they have for research into serious diseases. They will gain an insight into how we work at sterile benches, experience the production process with a robot, and be allowed to change the culture medium of the mini-organs themselves and compare their accuracy with robot’s precision."
