The newly opened research building of TU Berlin and Charité, "Der Simulierte Mensch“ / The Simulated Human (Si-M), will present interesting and inspiring biomedical research for people of all ages during the Long Night of Science on October 6, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m. Information will be available through exhibitions and lectures, focusing primarily on organoids, organ models from bioprinters, “organs on a chip,” and other important topics in biomedicine.
The game “Dein Mini-Organ im Labor-Organe bauen wie mit LEGO®" is designed for children ages 6 and up. The information booth, complete with a hands-on experiment titled “Die Zukunft der Zellkultur: Organmodelle aus dem Biodrucker is also suitable for a very young audience.
”Organe auf dem Chip: Anwendung von kombinierten Organmodellen als Alternative zu Tierversuchen"on the other hand, is a demonstration and hands-on experiment aimed at older visitors. The concept and functioning of organ-on-a-chip devices are explained, and their applications are presented: from elucidating pathological processes to drug development and the reduction of animal testing. Here, too, the hands-on component is not neglected: visitors can assemble organ-on-a-chip devices and try out magnetic cell sorting.
The events taking place as part of TRUST - see separate announcement - are more patient-focused. These interactive workshops focus on cancer models and patient involvement. An exhibition with an information booth complements the presentation on this important topic.
Venue: Der simulierte Mensch, Amrumer Str. 33, 13353 Berlin, Campus Virchow Krankenhaus
Date and Time: 06.10.2026, 5 p.m - 12 p.m.
