"Engineering human heart tissue for functional diagnosis, drug testing, and therapy"

Network of usergroups of the heart project

In the project of Prof. Michael Gotthardt (MDC/Charité), Dr. Sebastian Diecke (MDC/BIH) and Prof. Burkert Pieske (Charité), clinicians and basic scientists are working together. Their goal is to facilitate the transition from the laboratory to the bedside with improved disease models by virtually replicating essential aspects of the disease picture in the Petri dish. This not only promotes the application of the 3Rs principle, but can also improve clinical care and patient enrollment for clinical trials by making it possible to test in advance whether a therapy is effective.
